Imperfect Spirals by Debbie Levy Review

16059441[1]Goodreads Review: Danielle Snyder’s summer job as a babysitter takes a tragic turn when Humphrey, the five-year-old boy she’s watching, runs in front of oncoming traffic to chase down his football. Immediately Danielle is caught up in the machinery of tragedy: police investigations, neighborhood squabbling, and, when the driver of the car that struck Humphrey turns out to be an undocumented alien, outsiders use the accident to further a politically charged immigration debate. Wanting only to mourn Humphrey, the sweet kid she had a surprisingly strong friendship with, Danielle tries to avoid the world around her. Through a new relationship with Justin, a boy she meets at the park, she begins to work through her grief, but as details of the accident emerge, much is not as it seems. It’s time for Danielle to face reality, but when the truth brings so much pain, can she find a way to do right by Humphrey’s memory and forgive herself for his death

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Stars

My Thoughts: The book is about how Danielle tries to cope and come to terms with the death of the five-year old boy she babysits.
To me, this was a very emotional and inspirational book. It was a little bit boring but only because I read more fantasy life or death type books. This book was a new read to me because I usually don’t read realistic books. But for a first, it did not disappoint me. There were times in the book when I almost cried. I would recommend it to females who can be patience with books. I LOVED the ending, though!

Spoilers: So I found an error on page 192, I guess every book can’t be perfect. Or maybe I should stop being such a grammar Nazi :p

When I found out Justin’s parents were the ones who hit little Humphrey I was just like “Oh My Goodness!” I agree with Danielle, he should’ve told her that he knew who she was from the beginning. And you can’t just NOT say anything about the accident and how you played a part in it. I mean Justin played a huge part in it, I would think..

The end of Chapter 45 and all of Chapter 46 was the best I think. I also LOVED the ending, need I say again? I think Danielle needed the call from Mr. Danker to have her let go of what she was feeling. And when she visited Mrs. Danker…I could feel Danielle’s weight lifting off of her shoulders. I was happy that they were letting go together.

How the end turned out. I think that memory was perfect for the end. Though we don’t get to find out if Justin stayed in America or not it was cool. I liked how the author made the book from present to past every other chapter. It took me a couple of chapters to realize that’s what she was doing, though.

I'm just starting out; leave me a comment or a like :)
