Book Description:
Recent college graduate, Kayla Reynolds was ready to leave the university, sorority life behind. Leaving her boyfriend of over three years, she packed her bags and moved four hours south to the big city…New York City. Bright lights, streets that never sleep, and a business lifestyle that she yearned to have were all at her fingertips.
Kayla Reynolds was chasing her dream.
Determined and eager to make it in the corporate world, Kayla changed everything- her image, lifestyle, and outlook on life, putting her career first and her personal life second. That was until her first day, the first time she got a glimpse of Miles Blackwell. Corporate CEO and part owner of ETV, and not to mention, incredibly handsome, Miles Blackwell took Kayla by surprise, stealing her heart as he did.
But nothing had ever come that easy for Kayla. Life had always seemed to have a personal vendetta against her, stepping in when everything seemed too good to be true, reminding herself of whom she really was. It wasn’t until she met Merrick Drake that she realized when to stop; when running was no longer an option. For the first time in her life she had someone she could relate to; someone who wouldn’t judge- who saw the person she was inside. She and Merrick connected…on more levels than one.
When life was too much to handle, they ran.
But there was only one person that could make Kayla stop for good. Only one man that made her want to stay.
Would Kayla finally stop running or would it all be too much to handle?

My Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Stars

My Review: This was a very very good at the beginning of the story. The middle was great, too. I knew that I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. But then…it just went downhill.
It got a little cliché. Too cliché for me..
I fell in love with Merrick. I think that is part of the reason why I didn’t like how it turned out. My type is the hot, muscular, tattooed bartender. Or bouncer ❤ ( Jax from Unintentional Virgin by A.J. Bennett)
I was rooting for Kayla, I was proud of her and when she fell I fell. But after that turning point in the book my feelings for her went slack. I couldn’t really enjoy the end because of this. She was just another character to me, our relationship was neutral. Although, I didn’t end up hating her (which is saying something) I wish it could’ve went a different way.
I am very excited to read Permanent Lines ~ Merrick and Amelia’s story. I’m glad I read this book, it gives me something to look forward to late fall. And yet again, Ashley Wilcox does not disappoint me! I loved reading Giving You Forever and look forward to reading more of her books in hope that it will be even better than the last.

About the Author:
Some may consider me a jack of all trades, but I consider myself well rounded. I’ve waitressed, styled hair, answered phones and, most recently, worked full time as mom to my two beautiful little boys.
Then there was this book…
Everyone and their brother started talking about this book series titled Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James. I didn’t really pay attention to the craze at first, since I wasn’t a big reader- okay, I didn’t read at all. But curiosity got the best of me, so I downloaded it to my kindle.
I was immediately hooked. I read the whole series in three days. Yes, three books in three days.
I kept finding all these great books that I HAD to read (just ask my credit card!).
Then I started hearing voices. Voices that turned into stories; stories that were begging to get out of my head. I started writing them down on scraps of paper. Then I transferred them to my computer. Before I knew it, Planning on Forever was born.
The voices in my head are still talking, so I’m still writing.

Or will Nolan discover that his past doesn’t determine his future and he is worth the happiness he doesn’t think he deserves?

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars

My Review:
Wilcox loses no time starting off the book really hot and steamy! Though I had to read 75% through the book to discover a real conflict, it was filled with action. The iPhone pictures and post-in notes struck me as weird at first. But it was a really cool add on to the book. Although the pictures of the iPhone messages were always at 100% battery and 5 bars, which wasn’t very realistic, since most of the time the main characters were half way though their day. I also thought that there was a little bit too much emotions. There was places both Alexa and Nolan were crying where in reality they probably wouldn’t be crying. Other than that I really enjoyed this book, it’s a quick read. And if you’re looking for a little excitement to spice up your boring day at work, than this is perfect for you.

Excerpt:

I set the glass down at a sound by the door. Ryan was helping Jane on with her coat. I
walked over to lean on the doorjamb that connected the kitchen to the front entryway and
watched Ryan hand Jane thirty dollars cash and give her a brief hug before opening the door.
What the fuck?
“Goodbye, Jane.” I forced myself to speak to her, but my words sounded a bit slurred. My
head was starting to swim.
Jane offered me an acid smile that I could see right through. I returned it with equal venom.
When did sweet little Jane turn into this? I laughed bitterly, my shoulder slipping off the wall.
Ryan caught me, but I moved away, not wanting him to touch me. His expression soured, his
brow furrowing, and jaw hardening. Well fuck him. Let him go play with Jane and his ugly damn
shoes!
“Merry Christmas, Julia. I hope you enjoy the perfume.”
Wait, what? My chin jutted out and I glanced between Ryan and Jane as he opened the door,
carefully watching Ryan’s reactions. He looked pissed.
“Jane, seriously?” Ryan motioned to the wrapped packages under the tree.
“Oh, sorry.” Her cloying response didn’t fool either one of us.
Ryan opened the door. “Make sure to get a cab, Jane. No subway tonight.” Ryan’s voice was
tight.
She reached out to touch the front of his shirt, her fingers lingering on the fabric a little too
long. I watched it happen in slow motion. She nodded and murmured something I couldn’t hear
past the blood rushing in my ears. When the door closed behind her, I turned abruptly to go find
more wine.
“Julia, you’ve had enough.” Ryan’s voice was soft but firm behind me.
I finished the wine and reached for the bottle, laughing lightly. “Oh, you can say that again.”

Book Description:

Hannah Cohen has always lived her life by a set of carefully constructed rules to maintain the image of perfection. But now, the rules aren’t helping control the chaos that is quickly taking over.

Opting out of spending the summer in Paris with her mom, Hannah instead heads to the mountains of North Carolina to stay with her aunt. The Blue Ridge Mountains provide a barrier between Hannah and the rest of the world, a safe haven where her secrets can be forgotten.

When Hannah crosses paths with Jude Westmore, a guy who hangs a different shirt from the tree in his front yard every day, she finds herself breaking out of the comfort of her rules and doing things she had never dared before. As the summer passes, Hannah and Jude grow closer and make up their own rules for dealing with life.

But when the secret Hannah has tried to forget is finally revealed, even the new rules can’t save her from possibly losing everything–including Jude.

This young adult romance is a standalone companion novel to Shana Norris’s The Boyfriend Thief.

Excerpt:

People didn’t just do things for other people without getting something in return. My dad had always taught me to never be indebted to someone. Rule #21: Even the score as soon as possible.

“Do you want money?” I blurted out.

He looked at me, crinkling his nose. “Money?”

I held up a finger to him and then dashed back to my car, reaching in for my purse. I found my checkbook and then walked to my trunk as I opened the little book.

“How much do I owe you?” I asked, clicking my pen.

He raised one eyebrow. “For what?”

I shrugged. “For my changing my tire. Isn’t that how this usually works? There are people out there who get paid to change tires every day.”

He shook his head and opened his door. “You don’t owe me anything. Just doing my good deed for the day.”

“You’ve got to want something.”

“You’ve already said thank you, that’s enough.” He pulled the truck’s driver side door open, which squeaked in protest.

“I’m not looking for a boyfriend,” I said.

He wrinkled his nose. “Neither am I.”

My neck flushed hot. “I mean, I’m not going out with you for changing my tire. Just so you know.”

“That’s a little presumptuous,” he said. “What makes you think I’d want to go out with you?”

I sucked in a breath, stung. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

He looked me up and down. “Maybe you’re not my type.”

“Maybe you’re no one’s type,” I snapped back. I realized I sounded like I was five years old, but I was unable to keep my mouth shut. How had I gotten into this argument?

The guy smirked and then climbed into the truck. He turned the ignition and the truck groaned, but didn’t start.

I edged closer to the unpainted truck. There were dents and scratches along the side and the back window was cracked all the way across.

“Let me just pay you,” I said. “You look like you could use the money.”

Now his easygoing expression disappeared, replaced by a deep scowl. “Keep your money,” he snarled at me as he slammed his door shut.

I jumped back, blinking at the sudden change in his demeanor. The truck sputtered to life and the tires squealed as the guy put it into drive and pulled back onto the road, kicking up dirt and rocks toward me. I coughed, watching as he disappeared down the dip in the road. Maybe Natalie was right about hillbillies.
