“Behave yourself while I’m gone, Mr. Corbin,” she said, playfully smacking him square in the chest even though she was completely serious. Please don’t drink, she almost added. But she’d seen the dark cloud that had threatened to roll over his features when she asked if he’d be okay.

“I’ll try. Long as you promise to come back to me safe and sound, pretty girl,” he said, slapping her on the ass as she turned to make her way up the steps of the bus.

“Always.” She threw him one last wink before climbing the steps. A lady that looked old enough to be her grandmother sat in the driver’s seat staring straight ahead. Kylie greeted her and got nothing but a slight head tilt in response. She missed Carl, Trace’s friendly driver, already. Every step she took was like walking deeper into quicksand. Her legs seemed to be completely against the idea of walking away from Trace Corbin.

Her eyes began to tear up and she couldn’t even see the cool décor inside the bus through the pools of moisture. Screw this. She dumped her suitcase in the aisle and sprinted back to the door of the bus.

“Hey,” she called out to his retreating figure. Dang, he looked good from the back. Hate to see you go but I love to watch you leave.

“Hey yourself,” he answered as he turned to face her.

She didn’t think. Didn’t worry that she might be getting in too deep, moving too fast, or throwing more at him than he could handle. She just did what she was best at. Felt first. Acted on impulse. Once he was close enough, she launched herself into his arms and slammed her mouth down on his.

He caught her, just like she knew he would. His hands gripped her tightly as she wrapped her legs around his waist. His mouth said he was just as hungry for her as she was for him. She deepened the kiss as far as possible, lashing her tongue against his until it ached. When the world began to spin, either because she was falling hopelessly in love or because her brain was seriously deprived of oxygen, she finally pulled back.

Panting, she looked him in the eyes. “I’m going to miss you more than I can even stand. I needed a better goodbye than that.”

Trace didn’t disappoint. He backed her against the side of the bus, still holding her to him in mid-air. Her mind flashed to their escapade in the barn earlier and she felt the warmth spreading through her core. He ravished her mouth before she could even smile at the memory. When neither of them could take any more, he set her down gently and pulled her in close against his chest. “I’m going to miss you, too, Kylie Lou. So damn much.”

What the fuck?
“Goodbye, Jane.” I forced myself to speak to her, but my words sounded a bit slurred. My
head was starting to swim.
Jane offered me an acid smile that I could see right through. I returned it with equal venom.
When did sweet little Jane turn into this? I laughed bitterly, my shoulder slipping off the wall.
Ryan caught me, but I moved away, not wanting him to touch me. His expression soured, his

Wait, what? My chin jutted out and I glanced between Ryan and Jane as he opened the door,

“Jane, seriously?” Ryan motioned to the wrapped packages under the tree.
“Oh, sorry.” Her cloying response didn’t fool either one of us.
Ryan opened the door. “Make sure to get a cab, Jane. No subway tonight.” Ryan’s voice was

“Julia, you’ve had enough.” Ryan’s voice was soft but firm behind me.
I finished the wine and reached for the bottle, laughing lightly. “Oh, you can say that again.”

Release Event: The Mirror

Book Title: The Mirror
Author: Candace L. Bowser
Release Date: June 18, 2013
Genre: Paranormal Romance/Horror
Length: 280 Pages
Publisher: GMTA Publishing LLC
Presented by: As You Wish Tours

Adrianna Bristol stood before her grandmother’s antique mirror and stared at the black velvet cloth covering it. She just couldn’t believe her nana was gone. The mirror had hung in that exact same spot for the last twenty years, never once had it been moved from the alcove. Adrianna remembered the stern words of her grandmother when she was a child. Annabel Bristol had told her, “promise me Adrianna that you will never uncover the mirror. No matter what it may whisper to you, you must never remove the cover.” Adrianna laid her hand against the cool velvet which covered the glass. As she walked away the mirror whispered to her, “you belong to me now. You belong to me.” A four hundred year old curse has plagued the Bristol family since the 1600’s. A curse born out of a love so rich and a betrayal so deep, that time itself has no power to stop it. Only Adrianna has the courage to find the truth behind the curse and set her family free. But will the Mirror release its darkest secrets?

It was cold, raining, and not an ordinary rain by any standard of the definition. The sky grew darker and more morose while the day progressed.
How bizzare the purple backdrop of the horizon is with those dominating and uncanny shades of green; nearly glowing like emerald swashes amongst the billowing black clouds like some warped artist’s canvas. I have never seen a sky so wicked in Bristol Bay.
The winds increased allowing the day to give way to evening, and the sky’s appearance grew wicked. The moment my plane touched down upon the tarmac I felt a sense of relief. I was finally home and never so glad to see the tiny airport.
The driving force of this rain is making it difficult to see.
Rain was not uncommon in Bristol Bay. In fact, it seemed to rain here more than the sun was given the chance to shine. Growing up in a small town and never having lived anywhere else, I grew accustomed to the strange weather. We all did. It was even expected. A day without rain just didn’t seem right. This rain was different somehow, more dismal and bone-chilling that usual. My phone rang unexpectedly and somehow knew something was wrong. I could hear the tears in his voice before my brother whispered that she was gone. I could not understand how this happened.
My nana lived a long and fruitful life and died at the age of ninety-five. I could not honestly recall her ever being sick a day in her life. She did whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted and no one would dare to argue with her.
How could she be gone? It was only three days ago I saw her last.
As always, she was the picture of perfect health. As I thought about the day I had lunch with her, it suddenly occurred to me how frantic she had behaved.
“Adrianna, please don’t go to Paris,” she had pleaded. “I don’t want you to leave. You need to stay here, in Bristol Bay where you will be safe.”
“Oh Nana, I will only be gone for few days at best. This restoration in Paris will not take nearly as long as the last. I only have to sign off on the last few design changes that need to be done and then I will be home. You will see. It will be like I never left,” I told her.
The days leading up to my flight, Nana seemed uneasy. I could barely initiate a conversation with her before she would burst into tears. I found myself avoiding her for fear of making her cry. She kept to herself, rummaging through old boxes and photographs, rearranging the pictures on the mantle, and talking to herself. None of those things were unusual. Nana was known to stand in front of the mirror and speak to it as if she expected it to answer her. The day my bags were packed to leave I saw her at the bottom of the staircase whispering to the mirror and the old piece of black velvet covering it. Anyone else would have thought Annabel Bristol was senile. To me, she was just being herself.
I told her I would only be gone for a few days and promised she would be the first one seen when my project was complete. I kissed her good-bye and left her standing in the bay window watching me with the curtains slightly parted. Even when turning the sharp corner at the end of the driveway, she was still standing there in the large bay window with the light cascading over her shoulders from the kerosene lamp. I wondered why she wanted me to remain so badly as I boarded my plane but my thoughts quickly turned to the restoration project and what needed to be completed. It never crossed my mind until my phone rang.
Could she have somehow known that she was going to die?

Excerpt from The Return (#2 in the Witch Hunter Saga)

Zac vs. Arturius

Zac had become a permanent fixture at Max’s. He no longer cared about the scandalous gossip he was perpetuating as Ashburton’s latest alcoholic train wreck. He just wanted everything to go the hell away and the more alcohol he could consume, the better. For the first time since setting foot in this stinking town, he’d had to compel the bar staff. Otherwise they’d cut him off. He was turning into the worst kind of drunk.
The only kind of control Zac wanted was the numb inebriated kind.
He sensed her concern from across the room before he heard her approach. Gabby sat at the bar beside him, worry set in her features as he rolled his eyes.
“You’re better,” he said, still staring straight ahead, fingers grasped tightly around his glass.
“Much,” she replied, eyeing the drink in front of him. “Zac, I’m…”
“I know,” he interrupted.
She was frowning at him. People frowned a lot in his direction lately. Why were they saying sorry to him? He hadn’t had his heart torn out, but he may as well have. They’d all heard, all saw. She’d told him she loved him. They were sorry for him now that she had gone. He snorted, closing his dry eyes.
“What are you doing?” Gabby asked, as if she didn’t already know.
“I’m just sitting here thinking about all the choices that I made to get to this point. The pathetic, lonely, homicidal maniac.” Because it was true.
“You’re not alone, Zac. You have Sam and Liz. Alex. And you have me,” she said, firmly.
“Pfft. Sam doesn’t want to help me, he wants to change me.”
“Zac. You need to pull yourself out of this eventually. Do you think it’s what she would have wanted?” she sighed, shaking her head.
Zac turned and glared at her. “Depressed or predator. Take your pick, Tabitha. Which is the lesser of two evils? Which has the lowest body count?”
“Don’t…” she whispered, edging away from him.
“I kill people, Gabby. It’s what I do. It’s who I am,” he scoffed. “I’m a vampire and I eat people. Shock. Horror.”
“This isn’t you,” she shook her head. “You’re better than that.”
“Am I? Am I really? What makes you think you even know me? I was a soldier, a trained killer. Its what I was good at. I enlisted in both world wars and Vietnam because I wanted to kill. Oh, he’s fallen off the wagon, everyone said. But I was just honoring my true nature, Gabby. A predator who needs to kill to survive,” he spat at her, venom dripping from his words. “Everyone wants me to be the good guy. I’ve never been the good guy. I can’t do it. I wasn’t good enough for Liz and wasn’t good enough to save Aya. That’s what being good gets you. Nothing.”
He looked over his shoulder towards the entrance, groaning as he sensed who was coming; at who he guessed was coming. Gabby looked towards the door as it banged open, letting in the late afternoon light, and something else. Arturius.
Zac glanced to Gabby who nodded reluctantly. She’d seen him that night in the clearing, his arm bloodied up to the elbow, Aya’s heart clutched in his hand.
She grabbed Zac’s arm as he went to stand, a low growl coming from deep in his throat. “Stop, Zac. Getting yourself killed is not the answer.”
“If I die in the attempt of tearing that piece of shit apart, then so be it. It would be a benefit to the human race.”
Arturius leant against the bar a few stools down and ordered a drink, glancing in Zac’s direction. He walked up to the Roman and slammed his fist into the bar, glaring at the vampire who ruined everything.

Book Description:
I have 15 minutes to save my mother’s life….
15 minutes is all the Rewind Agency gives you in the past, but for Lara Crane it’s enough time to race through the city, find her mother, and stop her from being killed in a mugging that happened over ten years ago.
But that’s not how it happened. The story she’s been told all her life is a lie and when Lara takes a bullet meant for her mother, her future changes forever.
The love of her life acts like a stranger. Her simple life is replaced with a giant house, glamorous clothes and a new boyfriend.
Except someone knows her secret. And he will try to stop her at every turn as she races against the clock to unravel a dangerous conspiracy.
15 Minutes is an edgy high octane YA thriller that can be described as Back to the Future meets Inception where the people Lara trusts change in an instant. She is in a timeline she doesn’t understand, and is about to make one fatal mistake as she faces an enemy so familiar, he’s family.

I cover my head as a set of tires squeal. Donovan’s sports car pulls up on the curb to cover me. I dive into the passenger seat, my head down low and scream, “Go!”
Donovan peels away from the curb in a 180 and drives back the way he came. His eyes stay on the road, but his hand squeezes mine. “You all right?”
I nod and clutch the duffle bag to my chest. “Keep driving.”
“Where?” His eyes flash from the road to me.
“Police station. I need you to drop all this stuff off in case I don’t return.”
Anxiety creeps into his voice. “Return? Return from where?”
“The past.”
“Lara, you’re not making any sense.”
“I know, and I’m sorry.” I bite my lip. “There’s no time to explain. I need to fix all of this so my dad was never framed and Molly was never kidnapped, and there’s only one way to do that. I need to go back to the beginning.”
Donovan drives under an old abandoned bridge. He cuts the engine and turns to me. His eyes study me, and I study him because I’m afraid the next time I see him, he won’t love me at all.
“How do we do that? Do we need to get into Rewind?”
I shake my head and stroke his cheek. “Not anymore.”
The features of his face are drawn together. “You never make things dull, you know that?”
I laugh and lean over. In the background, sirens wail and I hear a rush of footsteps. “Remember me when I’m gone.”
“Don’t talk like this. I could never forget you, Lara.”
When our lips meet, the moment is magical. I feel warm everywhere in the blanket of his love, understanding, and compassion. My mind opens up, and suddenly I remember everything.
I wish to stay with him forever. I grip his jacket, and his arms squeeze me tight.
But in my mind, I see an alley.

Book description

The story of Jack Henry and Laurelyn continues…

How do you move on when he’s every song you sing?

After Laurelyn Prescott walks away from the love of her life, she returns to Nashville to pursue the only dream she has left. Determined to find a distraction from the pain of losing Jack Henry, she immerses herself in her music. But with her old life comes old acquaintances and new expectations. When Laurelyn refuses her record producer’s outrageous demands, she finds herself without a career—until an unforeseen opportunity presents itself. From there it’s a rocket ride straight to the top where Laurelyn finds the success she’s always dreamed of. Will it be enough to bring her the happiness she so deserves, or will the absence of Jack Henry leave her wanting more?

Jack Henry McLachlan never expected to fall in love with Laurelyn Prescott—but he did. After he foolishly let her slip through his fingers, he spends three months searching for her, but their reunion doesn’t come easy. The woman he finds isn’t the same one who drifted away without a goodbye. No longer an insecure girl on an Australian adventure, this Laurelyn is a successful musician with a promising career. Her dreams are becoming a reality, and Jack is terrified his American girl won’t have a place for him in her new life. With only a month to convince her otherwise, will it be enough time to make her visualize a life beyond the glitz and glamour, a life that includes him?

Laurelyn Prescott’s POV

He holds out a red rose for me. “You have an admirer.”

I take the rose and bring it to my nose. Being given a bouquet of flowers isn’t unusual after a show but I’ve never been given a single rose before. It seems so intimate. “A fan, I suppose?”

“I found this dude standing outside the door looking in here just now. I asked him who he was but he didn’t say. He just told me to give you the rose and this guitar. Oh, and tell you he enjoyed the show—that you were ‘fan-fucking-tastic.’” He puts the case at my feet and the world around me begins to spin way too fast.

It’s my Martin. That can only mean Jack Henry was here. Right outside that door—that cracked door—while Charlie was kissing me.

I dash off the couch and run down the hallway, calling out for him like a maniac. “Jack Henry! Jack Henry!”

I have no idea which way to go, but I run toward the auditorium. It’s empty other than the cleaning staff, so I run toward the lobby and out to the street where I pray I’ll find him standing on the sidewalk.

It’s storming and the raindrops pelting down sting as they hit my face. I reach up to push my wet hair from my eyes and that’s when I see him. He’s getting into a cab up the street. “Jack Henry!” I shout at the top of my lungs but he doesn’t hear me. He’s too far away. “Jack Henry!”

I run toward the car screaming his name and I reach the cab as it’s leaving. I slam my hand across the top of the trunk as hard as I can before watching it pull away, taking him out of my life again.

“Nooo!” I scream so loudly, my vocal cords spasm. I drop to my knees there on the cold, wet concrete. I try to scream, and again, nothing comes out because my breath has been taken from me.

Please, don’t leave. Please, don’t be gone out of my life forever.
